2.5" exhaust question
« on: April 10, 2011, 10:38:54 pm »
Just bought a 2.5" exhaust system - very nice used condition.

Has a Borla Stainless muffler (Pro XS). Low mile system Aluminized/SS pipes - from mk2 4door Jet gasser.
Its going on my 85 4door TD-GL.

#1 - Is this a good choice muffler for diesel ?

-----------------------

They cut the headpipe off flush right about at where the main shift rod bushing area would be (proximity). So i'll have to have a turned downspout made to come off the stock cast iron TD downpipe and connect to the exhaust pipe.

I have a spare front section of headpipe to use for the collar/flange/coned piece that mates to the TD toilet bowl and clamps with the C-clampers. Thinking they could cut it open at 2.5" point of the cone and weld to it from there.

#2 - Trying to stay Low Buck. (Emphasize the LOW BUCK)
But - Would i realize any big gain by having a 2.5" downpipe made to come directly off the turbo VS. using the stock cast iron piece ?

#3 - Anyone know the diameter of these AAZ units ?

And would it be a feasible/easy mod to use it on mk2 with K24 ?
I've read about some making notches for the 2 lower bolts of K24/T3 to be functional and mount up. But what about length of the down, being a tall block application.

Anyone used one of these fine units from prothe ?

TIA
