LUK Clutches

I'm looking at buying a new clutch kit for my 94 jetta - 1.9 IDI as I'm getting ready for a complete engine rebuild during the winter. Can't seem to find a part number from LUK for the 94 jetta's, only the 94 golf's. Seems like 1996 is the earliest I can find for the jetta, and it appears to be for the TDI's. So subsequently both part numbers are different - would anybody know which one will work without having to take the transmission apart??

1994 golf = 17-062
Outside Diameter 8 1/4"
Spline 13/16"
Teeth 24

1996 jetta = 17-034
Outside Diameter 9"
Spline 7/8"
Teeth 28

Also - are Sach clutch kits any good as they seem use the same part numbers for all the 1.9's including the 96 TDI's
But somehow I remember reading on here someplace that they had some inherent problems.

I'm confused - any help appreciated. Thanks.

The Golf clutch is for 020 = IDI
Jetta clutch is for 02A =TDI
'74 VW Scirocco TD
'86 Audi 80q 1,9TDic
'01 Audi A6q 2,5TDI

02A is a cable-shift transmission.

The 020 is a linkage transmission.

Looks like LUK may not make a kit for your car.

Sachs reputation has gone down the toilet in recent years. I'll never buy another Boge/Sach shock as long as I live.

The clutch kits however, still seem to be good quality. The last one I bought (over the summer) was for a VR6 GTI. It was made in Germany, although the box said Chech republic. But, I can't speak to whatever they're making now. And, the Sachs flywheel I bought from them was made in China and was an absolute piece of $hit.

I've had sachs clutches that lasted fine under abusive conditions in bmws but I blew one up in about 6000 miles in the caddy-1.6 n/a FWIW.

i used to run TONS of sachs super set chutches.. toyotas, vws, chevys, everything.. that was the cheapest clutches i could get.

Turbo: exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it, witchcraft happens and you go faster.
