k03/ko4 talk
« on: August 24, 2010, 11:22:25 am »
Ok i have been wondering about what turbo to go for and as one of these can be made up to bolt straight on I like this idea,

Questions are:- Who is running one of these and what are the results and what would i need to build one using my exsisting k03 from my AAZ,

Cheers and let the banter begin, !

BG's is backwards (not that thats necessarily a bad thing) from the "standard" K03 hybrid that Kerma or Bora sell BTW. I believe his is a Ko4 hot side & K03 cold side, the vendors sell a K03 hot side with K04 cold side guts in a massaged K03 compressor housing. BG's will flow better at higher RPM while the other will have less lag. I believe they have a very similar shaft & bearing sizes in both.

it was a business expense ( truck) full write off....

So what pressure do you limit that hybrid to?

In my bud's M-tdi build, we got a prothe K04 and I bought a genuine k04 meant for an isuzu i think. the genuine one had all the wrong housings but basically we used the prothe housings with the genuine core. all we needed to do was space out the exhaust housing 0.9mm from the core.

this diesel k04 is certainly heaps smaller than a gasser k04 but it seemed to be a great size for the 1.9. cold side pretty similar to k14, but with larger inducer diameter, and hot side also similar to k14 but maybe slightly larger exducer diameter.... i forget now. Anyway, spooled pretty well but we never got to test it very well because he sold it before we could really tune it up.
