Helping pull seals...tips and tricks
« on: July 09, 2004, 09:25:50 pm »
I am in the midst of swapping old and new parts on my TD rejuvination.  I need some advise on how to get the old crankshaft seals out.

I don't have the special tools listed in the Bentley, nor do I have a press. Does anyone have any helpful ideas on how to get the old ones out and the new ones in?

Also, should I put some gasket sealant behind the gaskets that go between the alloy covers and the block?  As before, I am trying to do this by the book, but Bob B. doesn't mention that....all other manuals I have for other cars does.

Thanks.

Mikey

Thanks for the advise, as always, especially on the likely long gaskets on the front and rear crank seal plates.   I will def. check those.

Time to take the little one out to toddler days though before going to pick up mommy from the airport...so likely no work on the car today.
