seeking rebuild advice regarding minor worthy mods
« on: June 07, 2010, 10:27:22 pm »
Looking at rebuilding my mech. lifter "MF" block & head.

Head is already at a machine shop to deal with several broken shank in thread issues..

Block has yet to be removed, but rings & bearings are definite.

Already have ARP head studs.

________

For the head:

thinking mild P&P at valves (IM&EM ports already done) is worth it.

I question if any mechanical parts have OE upgrade paths.. ??

Is there a better head gasket? I was able to use the later MLS with the hydra head, but am going back to mech. so i'll have matching coolant/oil ports again.. Is there a MLS option for solid heads?

For the block:

Would ARP main/wrist hardware be worth it?  then, are there PN's

Slight overbore? havent seen power payoff worthy of cost here, but may find deep wounds..

Are there particular OE upgrade paths here?

________

I did search but may have missed some keywords so im not put off if someone links me to where this has been beaten dead previously, in fact, i'd prefer it..

Also considering going synthetic now vs. trusted RotellaT..  yay/nay?

Blouch hasnt called back yet, but has anyone built these little garrett's bigger?
'~spit hot fire like Dylan~' ? (someone'll get that right?)

thanks, brian
