Engine vibration
« on: June 15, 2010, 08:55:29 am »
I have my 96 1.6td conversion just about complete and I was attaching my oil cooler and noticed the steel the front mount is attached to is not all that strong, basically 12 ga formed.  I am curious if anyone has welded/bolted a strengthener to see if that would reduce the vibration.  I know my old 90 mk2 1.6na (stock) at idle vibrates noticably.

If you strengthen the mount it will transmit more vibrations from engine to body, as less soft material will be there to take up the movement.

These engines just shake a lot, lol
