AAZ big end caps/girdle
« on: May 19, 2010, 03:24:51 am »
would it be safe to machine down the bigend bearing caps on my aaz engine so i can make more room for a stronger web around the oil pump on my engine girdle, all of the girdle drawings i have been given don't go round the pump because of the lumps on the caps and this seems like it might cause a fundamental weakness in the girdle? does anyone know the purpose of these lumps? are they just extra throw weight i have been told on another forum that ahu caps fit, would anyone have a picture of these caps so i can compare the two  ??? i would like to stick with my own caps if poss as all the tolerances are good and i want to spend my money on other work  ;)

Les,

ETOS is listing AHU conrods (complete) as 028 198 401 F and lists the same for AEY, 1Z, ALE and AFN engines.

It lists the same part number different suffix letter for the 1Y engine too.
