I just picked up a cluster from a diesel 1.6TD car that has a tach, my car only has a clock. Im going to switch out the old cluster for my new but am wondering what wire do i hook to the "W" Terminal on the alternator. and will all my dummy lights work the same and fuel gauge and what not and this one also has a digital clock how and which wires give it power i keep the whole connector of the car i pulled my new cluster from. so if i could get a wire diagram of the cluster i have now and the new one i can make the change. if you need to know more drop me a msg here please and thank you.

what year was the car u pulled it from?  early and late clusters have a different connector.  if they are the same tho.  it should be plug and play.  usually the later cars had the dynamic oil pressure warning system, and when they did (even on mk1s) u can just plug the cluster into the car and it is already wired for it

Heres the new and old cluster

These two pins are on the back of the speedo and i dont have these in my car...... what are they for

The wiring connectors, the one in the car stock is the exact same as the one that came out of the car with a tach..... so which one of these wires is for the actual tach the one you hook into the W Terminal?

oh and my car is a 1990 Jetta 1.6TD the car it came out was the exact same body style as mine also with a 1.6TD booth manuals but the donor car had a wire hooked up for the w terminal on the alternator and mine has no wire to that spot.

The pins on the back of the speedo are a Vss signal... on some models used for cruise control, on others a module that counts miles and tells you when your O2 sensor needs to be changed.  Either way, not needed.

Because you have only one connector you have a "CE2" cluster... this info should help you sort out where to wire the W terminal to:

Look for the "tach" wire... probably pin 10.

Just find pin 10... gonna have a green wire on it.  If you look closely the pins should be numbered on either the connector or the harness... or you can use some of the colours to figure out which way they are numbered.
