« on: April 25, 2010, 06:11:02 pm »
dont know exactly where  timing is weather it advaned or retarted but i think its idle  is to high but if try to retard the pump it smokes alot at cold start up and sounds when listening  its got a slight miss when running but i push the pump to advance it the miss goes away and it doesnt smoke bu t i try to adjust  the screw where the throttle rest against todrop idle as soon as i put load on motor it drops to where  it smokes and runs crappy am i just stuck with this higher idle or am i missing somthing also it a1984 injection pump on a1990 1.6 td if that at all matters

I got dizzy reading your run-on sentence and gave up............
'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

Have you touched the fuel screw in the middle and below both throttle stop screws?

Do you have the proper timing tools? pump will probably be happy around 1.00mm.

Proper punctuation is key my friend.

Ok, hold on what your saying.. is that with a load on the Alternator the engine rpms drop and the engine fights to stay running? Seems to me you need to up the idle.. not bring it down..

Either that or there is some huge underlying problem as to why the engine has to fight to stay running.

it doesnt really "fight" to stay running just runs with kinda a miss sound when listening from the rear tail pipe.
but i pushed the injection pump even farther towards block and when i do this seems to runs better but yes it idles alittle high. im used to driving an AAZ so maybe these 1.6TD idle higher???

but i did push the pump again and i backed off the fuel screw like an 1/8 of a turn and it droped the idle alittle and when i run everyting the engines abviouly drops in RPM alittle but still runs without a miss....

this is all with engine not hot but warm so in the mornings after its been sittin all night and is cold, that will be the true test......

ah well i paid 125.00 for the car and i drive it as my reg. vehical so i guess i can complain!

its not going to run like new but i guess after i run a full tank through her and see how many k's i get that will prob point me in a more def. direction!
how many k's are expected on a 1990 VW GOLF TD 2 door
ho
