Finally... she's finished.

And oh how i have missed driving her. My gasser winter beater left alot to be desired thats for sure... 1.9bottom end with a 1.6 head and some pump tweaks (among other mods) really makes me smile :D

Just wanted to whore her out a bit. Its been a long winter build it seems. (speaking of which, if anyones interested : http://www.dasdubbers.com/viewtopic.php?t=323 )

That`s a great color.

Why did you go with a 1.6 head on a 1.9?

How do you like it? What timing are you running?

A friends father built the motor, so as to why this combo, i'd have to ask. And i love it, pulls like a freight train, instant spool, gobs or torque, and still gets great mileage (it runs within a car length of my room mates 16v gtx, thats got 272 cams, euro 50mm intake and autotech power module).

Timing is about .95mm.

Hmm, are we sure it is not a 1.6  bottom with a 1.9 head?

I think putting a 1.6 head on a 1.9 bottom would pretty much take away any of the gains over just a normal 1.6td engine, such as reduced airflow, smaller ports and much higher compression. I have been wrong though lol.

Oh, i am very sure.

And as for taking away any gains over a normal 1.6td, well, i dont really see how larger displacement, more stroke, and more air pumping ability would reduce performance or negate any gains compared to a 1.6td (ive been wrong before as well, but this thing MOVES in comparison to my old modded 1.6), and yes i realize the 1.6 head does have smaller ports than a 1.9, so it is likely restricting some potential when compared to the 1.9 head. Buuuuut, i only paid $300 bucks for a fresh motor with only 20xxxkm's on it, with a stack or reciepts  ;D. And by the seat of the pants, its quick. And has spanked some similarly modded 1.6td's in the area, so i happy  :).
