Painting Engine Block

I am going to paint my engine block today and know to mask as much off as possible, but one area I have a question about.
The passenger side area of the block, where the black engine bracket bolt bolts up too, who here has painted that area or who here has masked off that area?
There isn't a gasket for that area, but I didn't know if because it was a machined area and if you paint that area with a couple of coats of engine paint, that when the engine mount is bolted up, it would be flush anymore with the block.  Might run into problems like timing belt walking?
