intermediate plate/clutch assembly
« on: April 10, 2010, 09:40:15 pm »
I have a stock 1984 VW Rabbit 1.6N/A with 4 speed transmission.  I am going to put my motor together in the next couple of days and I noticed something in the bentley manual.  Between the rear main oil seal and intermediate plate, there is a pic of a sealing ring.  I didn't take apart my motor, the 1st machine shop which was shady did, I had to take the motor to a 2nd shop to finish the work.  Before I install the intermediate plate, then the clutch pressure plate assembly, is there suppose to be a sealing ring between the rear main seal and intermediate plate/clutch pressure plate assembly?  I am wondering because that is what the picture shows in the bentley.  If so, I guess I have to find out where that sealing ring is at, I hope the 1st machine shop can find it?

Thanks

It's just a piece of rubber or foam.
Seems like I put some silicone around there last time.
