governor mod, no throttle...
« on: January 08, 2010, 01:43:45 pm »
I did the governor mod recently and now my throttle isn't working.  I'm guessing the splines on the throttle shaft aren't down far enough.  Is there a trick to make sure I get it right?

you have it off a spline too far one way or the other. starts up real nice and all it does is idle? i did this once. just moved it one spline and now it rips.

That's exactly right.  I'll try and move it over in a bit.

Yep. Mark it all up carefully before dismantling!

Don't worry, I and many others have made the same mistake  :-[

Could I possibly move it over while the engine is running to make sure I get it right without having to do this several times?

I wouldn't . With the gov. assembly spinning it will be weighted and hard to move it nice and easy...or at all.

Thanks to all for the input.  I now have a working throttle!  IC piping, a seat, and I'll have a car!  8)

Just to finish the story for those watching, I turned the throttle shaft CCW until it met resistance, then installed the springs and arms.  Perfect.
