K24 and T3 - Long term max boost?
« on: January 07, 2010, 06:46:08 am »
Hi,

What's your experiences running these turbos on high boost concidering (relatively) long term stability?

Is 30 psi asking for a turbo breakdown sooner than soon?

30 psi is probably not a good idea, more for the overall inefficiency of using these turbos at that kind of pressure. Intake temps would be very high, and your turbo would not last that long at all.

for a reliable 30 psi you would want a compound setup (plus a lot of engine mods!)

I'll be monitoring EGT closely while adjusting boost up in steps, I'll propably find a limit earlier than 30psi by that method though ;) It's just that I've seen several people run their T3 or K24 turbos on 30psi and even higher, but no notes on how long the fun lasted.
