More fuel faster....
« on: December 22, 2009, 01:34:25 pm »
Hi guys...

Am currently building up a fairly uprated engine for my car, and are looking for even more power now.

The old pump was an 11mm head/plunger on standard camplate, with shimmed gov and more dynamic advance, but even with the fuel screw screwed right in, it would burn it all at 28psi...

So looking for more fuel...are 12 plungers the biggest avaiable? And from what vehicles, are these ok to rev to5500?

Is there any other idi cars that have camplates that have more lift? As this total lift must make a big difference.

Also, does anyone have any advice regarding the plunger return springs, more shims should mean it revs harder i assume? to allow the camplate to stay in contact with the rollers...wat shim extra are we talking about, 1mm?

THanks

'82 Rabbit, I put on a euro vnt-15, 2.25" DP, 2.5" exhaust, the result.....it whistled.

I removed the turbo, made a toilet bowl 2.5" DP, the result....it was deafening. Now it has a homemade muffler up front and a thrush in the rear, the result.....less loud.

I have already done that, as well as changing the gov cradle and arm for a differnet one with longer lever for more travel....the problem is im maxing it out...so i think i either need a camplate with more lift, or a 12mm head...

did you install the 11mm pump springs when you put the bigger pump head in???
I got more fuel then I know what to do with on my 11mm pump...thinking about backing it down to a smaller head..

Well ive got the 11mm head obviously, ive shimmed the entire gov arm solid, and mofied the idle spring so i can still have low idle with the max fuel screwed RIGHT in...

Ive changed the throttle shaft and gov cage for the vw one as its got more throw on the end, so more travel, ive also grinded the lda pin...but sadly, i dont have more fuel than i need..it burns it all at 28psi and wants more!

darren are you not finding that your off boost smoke is terrible at the minute?
The 28psi cant be coming in very quick with that turbo, or does it spin up quite easily?

Yeh it smokes off boost like a bugger, ive just learnt to regulate my right foot..its the only way lol..

Infact, if im driving, off boost, and just TOTALLY flat my foot, it acually looses power, like bogs out.. im assuming just TO much fuel?

I dont see 11mm pump SPRINGS in that list...my money says that's your problem...if you still have the stock springs you will never get enough fuel ;)
