What car?
What kind of driving do you do? In town, highway, etc?
How long is your average drive - IE what percentage of your drive is the engine still warming up?
After all of that, any idea what your timing is set to?
How old are your injectors?
Any idea if your pump has had service in a while? Specifically if the internal pressure has been checked/set?

Its a 1994 Jetta, most of my driving is long trips on the highway with a few short bursts here and there but minimum 15 minutes of driving.
I tend to drive pretty easy but give it the odd romp once in a while.
My pump was rebuilt by giles into a superpump less than 1000km ago and he had it fully tested. The injectors are the only thing im not sure of, they havent been touched while i've had the car.
Timing is set at 95
thanks!

I was getting over 650km with most of my driving being around town, commuting to school. That dropped to 600 during the winter. When I took it on longer highway journeys, the mileage skyrocketed to 900+km on 49L.

I'd say something isn't right.
Do you have any bad wheel bearings, dragging brakes etc etc?
Give me a shout on the weekend and maybe we can double check the timing or test the injectors.
