What to check on an ebay injector pump before using it?
« on: December 03, 2009, 03:32:01 am »
Hello everyone,

I have a 1.6TD IP from ebay that I intend to use on my TD build. It has all ports sealed with plugs but i have no idea how long it has been since it was last used. What should i do/check with the pump before i install it?

Cheers

hey mate,

would be worth first off finding out if it has any kind of fuel residue in it - without taking it apart or trying to, an injector pump will often still be partly filled with fuel... if it is, and its clean, its probably a good sign.

chances are its pretty clean externally, so hard to find evidence of leaks.

check for off axis play in the throttle shaft which may indicate wear in the throttle shaft bushing.

i dont know what else really? any one else?
