Oil squirter installation in a NA block

Hello,

I have a NA 1.6 block and a set of TD oil squirters. Has anyone successfully installed these in the NA block? It looks like the NA casting doesnt have the wide section where the casting is machined for the squirters to mount to (see photo below). I will be discussing this with my machinist this weekend and see what he thinks.....

Is this a pic of a TD or N/A block? Looks like a TD.

This is the TD block. Does anyone have photos of the TD squirters in a NA block? If I manage to get them in i'll post the details of how i managed it

I inspected my NA block today and it appears to be the same casting as in the photo link above but without the machined finish where the squirters mount. From the photos and from inspecting the NA block, it looks like the machined face is on an angle so that the hole for the squirter is angled towards the oil gallery. Can anyone with a TD block measure this angle?

This is the NA block, note the raised shoulder on the bottom left of the bore of the first photo. This is where the oil squirter will live. the angle of the machined face, and of the hole for the squirter is important to know. Can anyone with a TD block measure this? The easiest way to measure this would be to insert a rod into the squirter hole and measure the angle between this rod and the sump mating surface. Any takers? THis information will be useful for anyone on the forum who wants to convert their NA block to TD. I will continue to post photos as the work progresses.

I haven't pulled it yet to see, however, this can be done on a Mk1 1.5L N/A block, right???   better lubrication is always better.   cause they like it nice and lubed up.......

May need to go with the 36mm oil pump? Or a TDI pump? Is it worth the cost of machining and squirters,bolts?

why would you want to put jets in a 1.5? you dont need to try and keep the pistons cool, you need to keep the block from exploding. im on my 3rd 1.5 now. 2 have suffered from too much boost. and honestly i wouldnt be surprised if the block im running right now isnt cracked also. to fix a 1.5 and put oil jets in it at the same time, you take the 1.5 rotating assy and throw it in a TD 1.6 block. Voila, instant 1.5 TD.

I'm contemplating this so that I don't have to buy new TD pistons.

I've got a 1.6TD block that has a notable ridge, and a 1.6NA hydro block that still has the cross-hatching visible and practically no ridge. I figure, I could take the pistons out of the TD, put on some new Goezte rings (which I already have), and put them in the NA block, and add oil squirters.

I figure I'd save a bit on machine work without having to re-bore the TD block, and I'd save about $500-600 on pistons. The other upside is the TD block is mechanical, and the NA block is hydro. I could easily run the OEM MLS gasket without having to buy a custom one.

then put a diesel crank, rods and pistons in it. then bolt a diesel head on it. 1.6 gasser and diesel blocks are the same ive been told. or atleast the same enough to work.

not the same, but i have seen a 1.6td converted to a gas engine but pretty much everything was replaced and the block was bored a good bit
