radiator questions...

iv put a 1.6 na with k14 in my formerly gasser rabbit. the radiator looks a little ratty so i was thinking of buying a new one. from german auto parts the turbo radiator is cheaper than the na, whats the difference... i should probably just go with the turbo radiator anyway but im curious....

i was also wondering if I could switch over to the no expansion tank style if my car originally used an expansion tank?

the only diff between N/a and TD is i believe the Td is a bit longer. A TAD bit more cooling capabilities.

You can use either Rad. I like the rads with the Tank in them, as then you dont have to have something else cluttering the engine bay. plus.. one less thing to break right? lol If u go with one with an external tank you will need the tank, and a new upper rad hose.. and another hose.. where it drains back in to the cooling system... Seems a lotta work for nothing really... Just go with one in the tank.

proper hoses? wtf are you talkin about? the upper and lower hoses connect right up. best thing to do would be to find an older gasser rabbit, pull the radiator and heater pipe out (the pipe that goes from the water pump to the heater core.) then voila, you have deleted your expansion tank.

no need to wtf, i just meant all i needed was the radiator and hoses....

You will need different hoses if your going from external over flow to an in-rad overflow. So I don't know what he's smoking(?) You will either need to use your old upper rad hose and block off that line that goes to the over flow, or get one that doesn't have it. As for the bottom hose.. I can't see why the same one won't work? unless it needs to be bent at a constricting angle...

If your old hoses don't fit, you can buy rad hoses cheap at any parts store from any car that utilizes the same size pipe.. and then cut it.. I bought one for like a civic.. cut it in half and now i have a spare upper rad hose in my trunk for the price of one

It was delivered to my door with a life time warranty for an extra $5 or $10. Their price includes personal delivery. I see is a little cheaper than German autoparts. For me, the life time and next day delivery meant quite a bit.

wait, top radiator hose that goes to the overflow? -puzzled looks-
the line for my over flow tank comes right out of the side of the radiator.
thats why i am wondering why you guys need to switch soo much stuff.
all i would need to do is swap the radiator, and whatever that pipe is that goes from the pump to the heater.
my hoses line up fine with either radiator.
