Get an alternator, bracket and pulleys from a non-a/c car.
The mk2 bracket is the same. All you need is the adjustment arm from a non-a/c car.
I'm surprised this is so hard to find. Do you have any kind of you-pull-it junkyard around? I thought the alternator mounts exactly the same for any mk2: gas, diesel, Golf, Jetta, Cabriolet, etc. with the only difference being a/c or not. Am I wrong about that? I see non a/c Golfs (I own one) and Cabriolets all the time, Jettas not so much.
Which piece is the adjustment arm? Does it replace the large bracked that holds the idler?
Vanbcguy: A long time ago I cracked one of the ears on my A/C compressor. I just rotated it 1/4 and used the next ear. There are 4 of them so I can break 1 more before I am in a jam!

That's actually why I wanted to go that route - much simpler design, one less belt, no more idler, you name it.Quote from: SolarSteve on July 01, 2009, 02:17:23 pmVanbcguy: A long time ago I cracked one of the ears on my A/C compressor.
