Almost one year ago I sold my beloved Suzuki SV650S to a friend to get some cash to replace the half-dead 1.6NA in my caddy. The previous owner couldn't get it started due to the firewall fuse being blown, so he was starting it occasionally with ether (*shudder*). Needless to say it didn't take much driving to kill the engine, though I did eke out a few thousand miles by removing the governor, but smoke volume was pretty bad and power was non-existant.
So i purchased an import 1.6TD and proceeded to run into every retarded problem imaginable. After removing and installing the engine 3 times I finally had a clutch that worked, and was ready to try to start it. New TB, everything timed and primed, no start. Sat for a few months, worked on it more, discovered I was getting no suck from the vane side, tried adding a lift pump, would start run rough and die. Pulled the pump, decided to try to rebuild/reseal and see if I could see anything obviously wrong. There was rust in the bottom of the pump, this I knew cause my injectors had also been rusted to hell. Found the vanes in the vane pump to be stuck, unstuck, put back together, install, no start.
Sat for a couple more months, my Audi got broken into, towed the caddy to the parents', so the audi could be garaged again, finally took the pump off and took it to Seattle Injector. They called Wednesday, vane pump was stuck, they're doing a full rebuild, and I can hopefull get my caddy running for the first time in a year nex weekend.
So excited.
Appologies for the wall of text, haha!
