10mm peugeot pump Q.
« on: May 04, 2009, 05:00:29 am »
Hi,

I'm looking at getting a complete Peugeot 1.9TD fuel pump to fit my 1Y engine, will this bolt on directly as it's new and i dont fancy stripping it down!

If i do getting a second hand pump would work out better as i could re-seal it then!

Cheers

I'll try to get one, my friend who has a second hand one is in the US at the mo but i'll see what i can do.

I think snakemaster on here said it would fit but i dont know if he just meant the internals!!

1.9 td pugs also had cav pumps fitted , if you did fit a cav pug pump you would be beter fitting the injectors from the same engine .  the bosch pug pump needs to be addvanced 1 noch on the belt , ie the timming hole a bit past, clock wise if you no what i meen .

yeah, I'll make sure i dont fit a lucas/cav pump.

Just need to figure out if the pug pump is 9 or 10mm now!

Cheers for the help, doubt i'd figure this stuff out myself!

you can tell on the side of the pump by the 5th or 6th number. most pumps ive seen are xxx 494 xxx something like that.. the number that would be where the 9 is indicates rotor size. a 0 would indicate a 10mm and a 1 would denote an 11mm pump and so on..

Ryan i replied to your pm.
Any peugeot pumps ive seen have been in 405/306/406 etc have all been 9mm heads.
You can get a 11mm head from a transit.
A friend has done this to his pug and i will when i get a transit pump.

peugeot use a lucas/cav pump too but i doubt anto is talking about this!

How hard is a head swap on a pump? Which tranny's have the 11mm, the N/A's??

Cheers!!!

Think its the 2.5di sort of around 99/00 years.
Plunger, head and collar needed but the plunger fits a peugeot 9mm camplate so no need to worry about new levers etc in the pump.

Its no harder than doing a pump rebuild using the guide but if you havent done that before id practise on an old pump first.

I Looked at a '98 tranny engine and that had a '414' pump which is 11mm i believe, Might have to fit that to my new Pug pump when i get it, if it's 9mm anyway!

Let me know how you got on and whether that transit pump was 11mm or not?

Thanks

the pump head that i fitted to my pug pump was a perkins prima 11 mm  same as the transit , all the bosch transit pumps i have seen have 11mm heads , you will want merc 300td nozzles next

Snakemaster does the peugeot 306 head not experience the same problems the vw heads do in relation to adding merc nozzles?
Something about spray destroying precups?
Ive new 306 injector nozzles in mine so il be keeping them for a while unless you really recommend the merc nozzles?
Part no for them?

i only put 306 injectors in my 1.6td with a moded 1.6 td pump . it was as fast as a 8v gti  . i have never had a prob with precups in pog or vw .
some vw will crack drop precups with std injectors , and no dought some goose with merc nozzles , it seems luck of the draw
some one on hear will chime in with more info on the merc nozzles  and precups   ,   the reason i no pug pumps are nicer then vw 1.6 pumps is  i have striped a few and turned them into M tdi pumps , nicer cam plate ,lever , etc  you will need the 1z pump pully to cos the pug pumps i have done has the biger shaft
if i was going to run merc nozzles on a 1.6 1.9 idi i would run a moded pug 306 pump with a 10mm head   ,
