Manual boost controller on a 1.9td aaz

trying to put a boost controller on my 1.9td aaz now i can't find a wastgate actuator feed line.....all i can find is an oil line and some other small steel line going from one side of the turbo to the other....is that the air line i'm looking for? can someone help me out...lol

it would help to know witch turbo is on the engine... on aaz it could be a k03 or a t24 both have different type wastegates.

the skinny metal line is probably what you're after.  and i will also bet that you have the K14 turbo as the wastegate looks more like a heatsink.  it is possible that you have the K03 style though...

yes thats exactly what it looks like so how would you go about putting a manual boost controller on it? its a small steel line with a banjo bold through eatch end...take them off and put a air line fitting in place?

you could probably take the steel line off, and use a pipe cutter to cut it, then splice both ends of your boost controller to each end.  you're just restricting airflow to the wastegate actuator...

ok, thats what i was thinking but just wanted to ask to make sure don't want to screw anything up what would you perfer.....home made or store bought boost controller...whats more effective?

For mine I cut out a part of the steel line that had a 90-degree bend in it and installed a brass 'T' fitting there, then attached a brass humidifier needle valve to the open end of the 'T'.  I used a bit of nylon line that had the perfect ID for the OD of the steel line to hook everything up - total cost was less than $10.

It works GREAT - 2 turns of the needle valve equals about 1 PSI increase so it's quite adjustable.  I've run mine now for about 6 months with no issues.  I've got a K24 with the same style wastegate you're describing - those wastegates actually have an internal bleeder already which provides cooling to the wastegate itself (boost air will flow through the wastegate housing at all times).  

Bleeder-style boost controllers still flow air through the wastegate so cooling is still provided.  "Proper" pop-type boost controllers don't allow ANY boost through to the wastegate until the "set" pressure is reached, this prevents any cooling airflow to the wastegate.  It seems a lot of the Garrett turbos have a second line providing cooling air but the KKK turbos use one line for both.
