WOW !!! Is this a 4x4 diesel we can't have in the US until its 25 years old

(Unless we know a military person stationed in Europe that we trust enough to give them $$$ to buy the car, and then keep it for 1 year after they import it here for free)

Looks like I know where the Russians copied their 4x4 from now, except the diesel part - they have no clue on small diesel engines. They ran out of cash when they were to pay the $100M or so for their half VM Motori this month. GM bought the other half from Detroit Diesel last year for their cars in the rest of the world. Anyway, here a photo of what I saw in Ukraine. Sorry for the low quality. The 3D camera sometimes did this. This image you can get 3D w/o glasses if you hold your finger up in the middle of the 2 halfs and slowly bring it to your nose.

february 1984 Golf "C" 1.6TD made in Wolfsburg, bought for 300€ from a friend

mods so far:
angel eyes (lol, yes there are some cosmetic details as well)
sway bar
mk3 subframe
Seat Ibiza TDI rear engine mount
mk3 vr6 driveshafts, steering components... the lot
Powerflex poliutherane bushes everywhere (except the rear that isn't done yet)
mk3 vr6 5*100 15" BBS wheels on 185/55/15 rubber (calipers almost touch the rims

)
Passat vr6 288mm vented discs (ABS/EDC being plugged in)
Passat vr6 226mm rear discs
Passat vr6 23.8mm brake master cylinder with ABS module
pump: 10mm head on 1.9TD cam, mild gov mod done
Ford Mondeo 1.8TD 90hp Lucas injectors
deleted diverter valve
new everything, bolts, washers, all VW original
a lot more that I forgot...

the engine (1.6TD mech) is under serious surgery right now, so no engine pics

I have big plans for this shell: (not on the near future)
2.5L inline 5 TDI engine, custom cam, valves, exhaust....
GT2556V turbo, custom intake.... the works

as for the golf country, there are very few of them left apparently. they only built a small amount, most of which aren't on this continent :cry:

The ILTIS came with a Diesel!

If you like that (using the Rallye golf syncro set up, if I recall)
Check out the ILTIS with a modified Quattro drivetrain
and a 1.6 diesel, sealed to be in up to 2-3 feet of water!

They say it is unstoppable..

I'm not using that one, I got another that bolts right up to the gt2556v

and the turbo sits on a more central place
totally true about the shoehorn, this block is 7cm longer

will have to get a compatible gearbox as well

The Mk2 Looks

How do you mean Ibiza TDi engine mount? the later dogbone mount?

I've got a Mk3 GTi subframe and made this stiff mount:

I've also fitted a passat crossmember so i can have a very similar mount at the front too! if it's too stiff I'll drill some holes in the Pucks.

Mine, soon to be very similar spec to gigaz2 (nearly built, M-tdi going in!):

not many in tornado red i believe! there are not too many vans either!

its not the dogbone style mount, came from an 110hp tdi, swapped just because the mk2 and mk3 subframes differ, although both mounts bolt right up

I've got a Seat ibiza TDi sport 110 and i think the mounts seem REALLY soft, the engine moves around LOADS! the vibrations are better than a mk3 mount though!

I'm on with modding a big mount with some hokey pucks to make a stiffer gearbox side mount too.

The Van looks a bit different now, rolled and flared arches with no trims, mk4 golf steels with 195/45/15 uniroyal rainsports and I'm just on with clearing all the small patches of rust and stonechips

I think VW could persue LEGO for some sort of copyright infringement!!!!

I really fancy building a 1y diesel head with a 1.6TD bottom end and a VNT for a crazy revving diesel!
