1.9TD Build...
« on: December 07, 2008, 11:32:03 am »
Ok so I'm back where I was 4 months ago...Sitting in the Garage staring at the golf again...Last time it sat there we did the diesel conversion... This time only 2 words came to mind...Twin Turbo  ... Is it even possible? I'm going to put a Giles pump on it... 3" exhaust, intercooler...So does anyone have any ideas?

There's a number of twin turbo TD:s around where I live..
I can post info and pictures when my friend's car is finished.
1.9 TD had 260 hp, but it wasn't enough so this time twin turbo instead of combination of blower and turbo :)

Whoa, ummmm, i'm a bit skeptical  about those numbers, perhaps your friend has exaggerated a tiny bit... if not I really want to know his secrets  :D

nonetheless the twin turbo setup he is working on sounds interesting

Edit: Turboj, just read your build post... I'm impressed

I would get a ebay intercooler kit...they are hard to beat IMHO...

I think a K26 and a K14 would be a cool compound set-up..... 8)

I am currently working on a twin setup, but more for the staged that compound idea, I will be using a K03 from a gasser and the stock K24.

when I actually get my car back I will do this and report back, that is if I don't go and get a G60 charger I found for $150...

Not a shadow of exaggeration on those numbers. I won't even bother posting up the dyno runs, but the more impressive thing is that the Eaton blower helped it make 190 Nm at IDLE ( that's 140 lb-ft ).
There's a 1.9 TDI Lupo somewhere in Europe as well, that has 400 hp...

Why twin turbo?
Compund would be better! Small og Big turbo.
Or just a BIG single turbo, like me

255hp/460nm on a 1,9D with 2860RS, 11mm IP.
VW Golf mk2 1.9TD - FMIC, GT2860RS - 11mm Pump.
1/4 Mile - 13,24

433bhp and 787Nm
That's 580 lb-ft !

no one said you can't go twin turbo and a blower  8)

this is a monster build in my opinion:
twin turbo (doesn't really matter which just need 1 big one and 1 small one to spool the big one) a big turbo and a blower would work too
propane, NOS and water/meth injection
GTD nozzles
uncontrolled boost (ie. no BOV & no waste gate)
big intake manifold
big exhaust manifold
everything at least polished
3 inch dp and exhaust
timing advance
governor mod
12mm pump head
tdi cam plate
big plunger to go with the 12mm pump head

and the necessities to hold it all together.

would make for one BEAST of an engine that would probably self destruct without some impressive rods, ceramic coating, ARP everything, and the list goes on
Ed
Blacked out mk2 AAZ Jetta RIP. You are missed.
White 1999.5 ALH Golf 2dr. Low & wide. Rammed off the road RIP.
Blue 2009 CR140 Jetta CBEA/CJAA. Malone stage 2. EGR/DPF/Exhaust-valve deletes. 2.5" open exhaust. ADP Turbo swap. 1-stage nitrous kit. THROWN ROD
