2.4 NA to turbo upgrade
« on: November 25, 2008, 11:01:25 am »
Some pics from the end of friends build. Pump was easy to retrofit LDA & mani's from audi 2 liter are a perfect fit. Very curious about how it'll feel & run, NA wasn't really that bad all things considered.

Oil line to the turbo cleared intake (just!)
Stock is 77hp & 120ft/lbs, any guesses with FMIC, LDA & K14?

That wont run!!

The injection pump is backwards.  :D

I JUST missed an Audi manifold my bud gave away for free..

I need to start gathering parts for my next build here ASAP.

I like that intake as well.

Sadly it's not going into a VW, a Isuzu pickup's getting it. Ironic since Isuzu makes some of the best little diesels. Previously it had a Volvo (vw) diesel which was completly bagged, tailgate used to look like a black transplant...

Zuk, thats heartbreaking, I would love to build a 5cyl into a m-tdi for the van & am going to start collecting parts too. At least there are quite a few D euro's up here.

Great stuff.. my brother has this NA engine in his Transporter... good on fuel but oh so pokey.

Glad to hear the LDA is an easy retrofit... what pump is the LDA from ?

Use Audi 2,0TD pump. Itīs 10mm, when Transporter pump is 8mm... LDA will also fit from Volvo d24.

Some progress shots, Engine is together & ready to be fitted, frikkin monster volvo diesel starter hits the block!! 5cyl block has bubble sides, it would add strength having a 3d profile vs. a planar casting I suppose.

More crappy cell phone pics...

He got engine in, bit of trimming to the inner fender to clear the turbo. No FMIC for now, later tho...
