Post up a picture :)
There were T3's used on some VW engine but I dont know what housings your turbo has.
I'm guess it will work but without doing a interweb search I cant tell ya much.
There is prob someone on here that will chime in though.

If the turbo is a stock T3 from a Volvo 740, it will have a waste gate and it can be a useful turbo for the 4 cylinder diesels too.
The stock 2.4 TD of the Volvo made 120 hp on its most powerful version and the turbochanger was the same as on the standard version.
Your boost treshold wikll be a bit higher with this turbocharger, but maximum power will be much higher too. You can push the engine to almost 200 hp with this turbo, and with 140-150 hp it should be right there with not a lot of heat coming off the turbo.

It's going to spool slower though.

I would like to know aswell how much the t3 and headgasket can take. Right now im running 30psi with a blocked wastegate without problems. I will be turning down the fuel to decrease the pressure.

That can be done apparently, I know local guys here too who're doing it...
There are a lot more things that contribute there, apart from the actual boost pressure.

paddy, can you describe your engine and its mods? That can make all the difference..

The t3 (1.6) takes 60 psi exhaust manifold pressure to make 30 psi boost. At 22 psi boost the exhaust pressure is 22 psiThe exhaust pressure is hard on the headgasket and the whole engine for that matter. You need a better turbo for boost above 22 psi.

Well there are guys that run 30psi on the stock gasket then there's guys that have barley hit 20 and blown it out.
Personally I run Studs and a MLS gasket, I've touched 40 a couple times but stay around 30 max at this point.

ARP's or Raceware studs are a very good upgrade here.
Cost is about $100.00 US on either I believe.

ARP studs + stock fiber head gasket + 20psi=blown head gasket in 2 spots...at least 2 maybe 3 spots
I'm bitter about fiber gaskets...I blew mine on my very first test drive!!!
go studs and MLS gasket and forget about it! 8)
getting your car ALL put together just to take it back apart after the first test drive sucks!! :(

If you're getting your engine done make sure to get the exhaust ports enlarged. I think this is even more important than studs, especially if your turbo is somewhat restrictive or if you're running big fueling.

my head is PNPed and gasket matched and it did not help me... :(
MLS+studs and be done with it!!!!
I even think MLS and stock bolts would be better then fiber and studs....

...and a good inlet manifold is also really important, so that each cylinder has equal amount of air since they will be getting an equal amount of fuel...
