so i've done a gas to diesel conversion, i've got it running (just sticking a wire to the glow plugs from the battery) but i need help making a more usable system to get it started, i used the wiring loom from the gasser and was planning to just make a simple circuit just using the original parts i have from the doner car, but i'm not very good at wiring so could do with some help from you guys.
i have all the parts still in the old car, i just need to know what parts i will need and how to hook them up, i'm not after any thing fancy, just a simple glow plug circuit using the parts i have.
yeah i've already read that but i was hoping to just use the parts i already have from the doner car.
also which relay is the one for the glow plugs?
I think the relay is in the dash somewhere?
I was so angry with the stupid stock relay being broken i just got an 80 amp relay and a toggle light switch and put that in my dash in one of the empty spots. It cost me less than 10$ and like half an hour of time to wire it up.
sorted it, spent 2 hours in the shed with the diesel loom cutting out the glow plug bits and testing it with a bulb and a battery, finally got it down to a couple of components and four wires, so its nice and simple, can be hidden in the scuttle tray and it'll still work off the key so no forgetting to flick a switch off
when my GP relay went bad I used an INTERMITANT toggle switch on the cheapest ford seliniod money could buy. Had less in all the wiring and seliniod than one GP relay and when I hit the toggle I knew they were working...also when I let go I knew they were off.
i smell a TD 'Rocco on the horizon...
An intermittent switch is a much better idea.
I think I'll change to that in hind sight. I just love the lit up switches at night
