Another AWIC question
« on: October 08, 2008, 08:09:30 pm »
I have a free H.E. from my work that I would like to use for my AWIC radiator.
Its a large tube in fin type, has two rows of tubes and is very high quality (they cost like 350 bucks ea, glad I asked about it before it went to scrap) its about 14"x14" and has 3/8 NPT connections, the tubing appears to be 3/8. My Question is, are people using these series type HE's and are they working well? or is it best to use a small radiator which has all passages in parallel, someone told me the radiators will flow better then a series type HE?
Also, is a mag drive type pump sufficient (like one of those bosch pumps) or should I try to find a fixed displacement pump?

It has a really nice made in Germany fan asm on it too, but too bad it's 220V.

I'm using a parallel type radiator, actually a big oil cooler for a Chevy 350, and a Bosche pump from a Ford Lightning.  If it's good enough for an OEM on that,  must be fine for a lil VW.
