MK2 CE2 to CE1 cluster question.
« on: October 07, 2008, 07:24:38 am »
Will they all connect properly?  The car in question is a 87 and it is without a tach which I am trying to change.  I have a parts car with a tach but it has a digital clock and the temp and fuel are a bit different (because it is from a 91?)  Anyways I am sure it must work but you guys are the men/woman that know these things for sure.  If it will work what do I have to do to hook up the tachometer?   Thanks in advance.

searched and found a few answers but I want to know for sure.

CE1 and CE2 is that the same thing as cis-e and digi in gas cars?  Is my 87 wired CE1?  I am thinking I may have to splice the guage cluster in my 87 since it is from a 91....  Anyone?

Has anyone swapped a CE2 cluster into a CE1 car before?

Pinouts of both clusters are here... lots of splicing to do.

Okay cool, did vw make a CE1 cluster with tach?  I imagine they would have but I can't seem to find one.
