Pics of my New Ride/Project...my Introduction.
« on: September 22, 2008, 03:54:36 pm »
I'm new to the forum and figured I'd start of with a pics of my ride

I just got done working on my new to me 91 1.6 TD, this is my daily driver when I'm not in my Truck.

Also the car has 105,000 miles on it and here is what I just completed for work to "go through" the car. Although I have few other issue to sort out. I've been trained on large industrial diesels and everything in between but this one is just so fun as you all know.

-Timing Belt Replacement
-All V-Belts Replaced
-New Valve Cover Gasket
Checked Fuel Pump Timing(was on the high end, brought it bad to middle of spec range)
-Changed Oil/Filter
-Completely New Front Struts, including springs and strut bearings
-New Ball Joints.
-New Outer Tie Rod Ends
-New Outer Sway Bar End Links
-Big Brake Upgrade Kit From 99-2005 VW
-Complete Brake Fluid Flush(still have little air in it)
-New Bushings for Control Arms.
-New Power Steering Pump Reservoir
-New Coolant Reservoir
-Replaced Misc Interior Parts that were broken(got about $300 in parts from Junk Yard for $20)
-Installed 16" Wheels with 205/45R 16 Tires

Mods to Come:
-Single Round E-Codes with Badgeless Grill.
-Clear Turns and Markers.
-Have parts to do rear brakes but haven't yet
-Might Throw some new/rebuilt injectors at it to see if I can get the mileage in the upper 40s, right now it's at 43mph daily driving.

And Couple of Pics...enjoy

Trailering it home back in May of this year.

Big Brake Kit is not on in this pic

My wheels are taking up space too, the tires were gone. I might try and get rid of the wheels because I have complete set of 14in snow tires on wheels as well for the thing. Only think is I don't think the 14in wheels will fit with my MK4 brake kit, those cars only came with 15in as the smallest wheels right? I just haven't bothered to mount them up yet. I may end up having to by another set of say 15in wheels for some snow tires.

I spent about 2100 just in parts including the wheels to go through the car, to me it was worth it.

Oh and I got 46mpg out of one tank but I'm not sure how accurate that was.
