96 Golf 5spd
« on: August 12, 2008, 06:30:51 pm »
Hi I was just under my golf that I picked up a few weeks ago doing an oil change and I want to change the oil in the transmission.

Question is....

there looks to be a plug

1) On the bottom of the transmission

2) Another on the drivers side of the transmission

3) On the top of the transmission with a plastic cap on it.

Obviously the bottom is for the drain plug but what about the one on the side and the one at the top??

When I'm filling it back up where should the full mark be?

Also I'm assuming you can buy a tool for this plug, but what size of hex bolt head have people been using?

THanks again for your help!!!

www.brokevw.com has all the answers and pictures you need.

It will tell you that you'll need a 17mm hex wrench.
