I have a 1.6 has anyone used lucas oil treatment in there tired engine?

Some people say adding Lucas to your oil can cause foaming in the oil. The people at bobistheoilguy.com seem to hate the stuff. I know many cars that have used Lucas and haven't had any trouble.

I use it and like it! no problems in all my forced induction motors!

have you noticed if it helps with oil consumption Duane?

Anything positive to report or just no problems?

I've ran it in my gear boxs in the past with no issues but not in my engine.

i have oil consumption but i believe it's from a oil leak so my drive way says! but try it seems to cling on bearings better!
i like the stuff!

i only use Royal Purple 15w40. I have been using it for 3 years in my 1.6L TD and will NEVER use anything else again. Ever since i started it using it, the engine has never run better, gets better ful mileage, hardly ever blows black, and cured a cronic sticky lifter that i had had for 4 years prior. The oil cost around 10 bucks a litre but lets you go 10000km without worries.

PLUS, it pours out purple...haha.

Well I'm going to try it then.

Like I've said I've had good luck in gear boxs in the past.
As a matter a fact I had bought a Suzuki Samurai and I dumped some Lucas in the transfer case when I boughti, didnt drain any just added about half a bottle, when I whent to do the gear reduction in it a few months later everything in there was slippery as heck, it was all coated with the lucas.

maybe I'll throw some in my tranny then. It's crapping out and makes awful noises on the highway so what's the worst that can happen. I'm waiting for it to SMS so I can see how long you can drive with no gear oil :twisted:

I think I'll do the same Tyler. I'm running Redline in it now but it cant hurt to have a good coat of slippery on the gears

I know some Rover people used in their trannys and noticed a 20*F or more drop in oil temp.

i use lucas in my 1.6 na it seems to work awesome i used it in my old gasser cars and loved it then i got my golf and tryed it and the oil pan leak that i have used to leak dosent seem to now but not the dip stick hole :evil: lol

tried it in a TD 1.6 .... the turbo didn't like the thicker oil and didn't spool up as quickly....
