Hey, I have an AAZ motor in an A3 body.

It's got an issue where the solenoid in the IP get's no juice when the key in the ignition is in the start (cranking) position, but it does when it's in the run position.

Basically, i'm trying to figure out what to replace to fix this...

Also, this car smokes and runs rough, this started happening recently.

We've pop tested and rebuilt all 4 injectors, they have good release pressures and spray patterns.

I've tested the GP system, exhaustively.

So what does that leave for the smoking?  Bad rings, seals somewhere?

You could have bad glowplug(s). It could be timing if you have done a TB change recently, but timing doesn't change on it's own. Make sure the pump is tight.
Oh, does your crank pulley wobble when the engine runs? If so, that may very well be the problem, and should also be fixed IMMEDIATELY.
