Nuts and bolts question
« on: July 22, 2008, 09:51:01 am »
Does anyone know if the intake manifold bolts are the same for both the 1.6td and the 1.9td?

Will a 1.6td stock dp match up and connect to a stock 1.6na exhaust pipe?  I know it's not the best for performance, but will it work?

Does anyone have the spec on the 3 nuts and bolts used on the AAZ  head that hold on the VC?  The 3 that screw into the head and project up through the VC.

The nuts are standard (M8 ??) nuts with a 10mm face... same as what bolts down the 1.6 VC (and many other parts of a VW !!)

The studs are actually a specific dealer part (as far as I have ever been able to determine)... they look like a simple stud with three nuts cross-treaded but are actually all one machined piece at a very specific height so that the main VC gasket and the 6 other donut gaskets around the three studs compress just enough to seal but not enough to distort.

The intake manifold bolts are the same.

The down pipes are completely different between the 1.6na and 1.6td

I don't know about the 1.9 valve cover screws.  I do know that I'm going to drill and tap my 1.9 head to take the 1.6 valve cover.  With the 1 piece rubber valve cover gasket, I should be in like Flynn.

Well, I found two of these studs from my old 1.9 head.  Of course the 3rd is missing :x
I talked to myke and he thought that the studs from a AHU would be the same.  Anyone else verify this?

I am not being picky (I hope not anyway ) but I am almost positive that the VC nuts and studs on my 1.6 is the 6mm1.0 thread nut and the 6mm1.0thread stud by 30mm long. The stock ones are shouldered, but I got new studs and run the 1 peice rubber gasser gasket now.
I don't know about the AHU though

Nah you could well be right... I took a guess based on the fact that I use a 10mm wrench on 'em !!
