need help with 1.6td pump convo
« on: July 06, 2008, 11:59:04 am »
ive built a few pumps now and im no strager to things going wrong but this is different. the pump started as a 1.6 na pump, changed the pump head, plunger, cam plate and springs off an aaz, then added the 1.6 LDA.

it seemed to be going ok for a bit, but then when reved it hits around 3.5k, then gets stuck and wont cum back to idle. why is this happening?

also it produces lots of black smoke but wont hit high bost even with the waste gate blocked. im guessing the timing is too far advanced.

i realy dont understand whats gone wrong with the revs, if i cud sort that then im sure the rest is just down to the set up and timing. cud it be sumthing to do with the n/a pump?

Try turning down the full load screw (max fuel). If it is set too high it can cause symptoms just like yours or if even higher, climbing rpms.

The fact that touching the screw fixes it might suggest the same.

i tried everything to get the problem to go away, last thing i tried was changing the plunger springs from aaz ones back to 1.6 again, although at that point it was getting late and left a socket on the bottom pully, ended up snapping the cam shaft into 3 peaces and ripping the pully off, so i wont know if it works till tomoz wen i get that sorted

any ideas wud be greatly appreciated b4 i kill myself :(
