Turboing a 1500 NA

I just checked the engine # in my 81 Dasher, and found out it's got a 1500 in it instead of a 1600. It's fairly low mileage, and runs well, so I'm reluctant to pull it in favour of a 1.6. I do have all the parts to turbo it, but would it be worth doing? Would the 1500 engine last long with a turbo?
