dissassembly of injection pump
« on: April 09, 2005, 08:21:41 pm »
so i have 2 pumps not working and I decided to tear one apart and see if i could get it working again, well i think that i can but i need a special tool i think to take out the govenor thing (i think thats what it would be called)
it looks like it requires a tool that resembles a circle with 3 flat spots cut out on it, not real sure what it is called and where to get it so any help would be appriciated

thanks in advance

try contacting Bosch.  They make those pumps.  You'd probably have to order it through a distributer though as my experience with Bosch is they don't sell to the public

"Metalnerd" sells one for the TDI pumps, I think it is the same size on the IDI pumps, but the socket is $20 or so IIRC. I think you can also get a 7/16" 12 point on thee with a hammer IIRC.

well i rounded out three flat spots on a 13mm 6 point socket and it seemed to large, so I did the same to a 12mm and it worked perfect, and now that old junk pump after tearing it apart and chem dipping everything then reassembling it works great, now i just need to get some viton seals and swap it out and brew some bio diesel

thanks guys

It works great?  And everybody says they're not fixable...  Since my old pump was destined for a bookned, I'm even more looking forward to tearing it apart.  Though I have a nasty hbait of finding extra parts after I've re-assembled it...  Let me know ehn you find those seals and what they cost.  I'm a few steps away from a-brewing myself...

how did you adjust it?  everyone says you need a test bench to do that.  Did you just guess at the settings?

well its not adjusted yet, i was able to keep the current settings except for the idle since i kept all of the settings marked and recorded, so in order to set it proberly yes i would need the test bench or an engine to run it on

which hopefully i will soon have an engine on a test stand to test pumps
