all ive done is relocate to behind the passenger seat using a jump lead and weld the negative to the foot well, it just wont charge

surly it should still work? the jump lead sumtimes gets a bit warm, could that be my problem? or have i over looked sumthin else?

Get a multimeter and find out what's going on.

Did you weld it with the alternator hooked up? I have seen that blow an alternator before. Also what size is your "jump lead"? It will probably need to be 6 gauge at least for that size alternator. It shouldn't get warm at all. I assume the jump lead is only for the alternator, and not the starter.

you might as well use the biggest gauge you can afford, in both negative and positive going right to the front.  if you ground the chassis all the way back there, there's a good chance that you'll rust out the chassis sooner because of the molecular attraction

i'm gonna get a huge battery for mine and do that.   8)
