Intermediate Shaft Bearings/choices...

Two replacement choices--reamed and non-reamed.

Are the non-reamed up to snuff--anyone use these types?

Thanks

reamed vs non-reamed???  The terminology I use is finish in place or not.

I used ones that do not need to be finished in place and they worked great.

If you use finish in place you'll have to have your machine shop size them after install.  (extra cost)

Before

After

I have only 100 or so miles on the rebuild so only time will tell if they last.  But they definatly are holding the oil pressure.

Thank you!

I pulled the I. Shafts out on 3 1.6 TD's I have in my shed--each one had flaked apart bearings on the pulley side--one had the trans side completely worn down.

When I went to my local VW parts place to inquire about availability,  they asked 'reamed,  or not'.  The older parts guy there said reamed would allow for any wear/cleanup of the I.S. to be compensated for when the shop machines the 'reamed' bearings to size.

I've found clevite to fit best, for non-reamed bearings.
I tried another non-reamed brand,... might be durabond, it's posted on here somewhere.... they were too loose for my liking.
