Quick timing question
« on: October 23, 2007, 12:48:16 am »
A couple months ago, my timing got out and my head got damaged, $2000 later, it's working again.  Just had the transmission swapped from 020 to 02a.  Would the timing need to be reset?  The reason I ask is because before the head went last time, the engine sounded noticeably louder, then 50km later, killed a lifter.  it may be because i haven't driven the diesel for 5 months, or if they removed some sound deadening, but it sounds louder again, raspier.  The shop says no, but i don't want to go through the same thing again.  please give me peace of mind!

It hasn't been run in 5 months too btw.  Gonna top the tank up tomorrow, it's at half.  Power is fine

if the belt was not touched (which it shouldn't have been with a tranny swap) you should not need to do the timing.

ok, good to hear.  It's a little quieter now that i've topped up the tank.  Injectors just noisy maybe?
