I have just managed to get hold of a spare, fairly low mileage SB GTD engine, the bottom end is shot as there is a 6” hole in the block where a con rod has shot through it. It is complete with GTD pump, injectors and turbo.

My question is; is it viable to have this head reconditioned with the hpe of having some performance work done on it, ie gas flowed, different camshaft, injectors re-built and turbo reconditioned with the intention of finding a good SB bottom end to re- build later on. Or is it a waste of money as I can put an AAZ in and gain more power. I would like to keep the GTD looking standard under the bonnet as it came out of the factory. What BHP figures would I be looking at if this work was feasible; I am running a Scorpion stainless exhaust system and an ITG performance panel filter.
Second question, is there any one in the UK that can do the work on my head and build the equivalent of a “Giles “pump as I have a spare on the GTD engine.
