what's a good source for oversize pistons for a TDi engine?

I just made a deal for a 99.5 Jetta TDi that needs internal engine work. I don't know the whole story yet, but it sounds like valves VS. pistons....
Are there any sources for O.E. oversize pistons?

Ebay has them listed every now and then... From there, I'd check with "Vanamania"...he is on ebay as well and is able to get stuff directly from germany most of the time. I think he had oversized units listed as well... Be prepared to pay the price though. The last set of oversized ones I saw went for over 900.00 and I didn't stay to watch the end of the auction...
there may be a few vendors here that will chime in and could possibly help you out as well.

Maybe try Autohausaz.com . I think they had them for around $90 a hole with rings.

That sounds about right for rings, they used to have two different sets...two different qualities...one for around 70.00 a set...the other closer to 100.00 a set ... but he is looking for oversized pistons as well! If they sold them for that price, I don't see them listed, but if that is indeed true I'd be jumping all over them buying some up! Not a bad deal if it exists...

Thanks for the link! I was supprised to see that the #1 and 2 pistons are different from the #3 and 4, and that the 3 and 4's are more expensive.
Upon talking with the shop owner where the car is at, it seems that the oil pump drive gear failed and has basically wiped out the engine. The cam journals are destroyed, so at the very least it needs a head. The shop said they also pulled a main cap and saw starvation damage to the crank as well as a rod journal. As I try to locate a used engine, the prices for motors w/ unknow mileage or maintainence history seems insane, so I'm not so sure I'm going to pursue this car anymore.

You should probably be able to find a used ALH engine in the $12-1500 range. Check out car-part.com to do a search of wrecking yards. If you buy a known good engine from a lower mile car you should be pretty safe. A good wrecking yard should be able to give you mileage and/or compression test results.

Thanks for the insite, vwmike. If I could find a good, used engine I would persure it, but around here (Mid Atlantic region) these motors seem to go for ~$2500 without any kind of maintainence history or warranty.
I also saw that same ad on TDiclub.net Unfortunately, when I tried to join their little club last summer, I wasn't granted the 'privelage' to post in their ads. I have no idea what it's all about. I've written several times to the administrators to no avail. It sucks, too because Harrisburg is only 1 hour to the north of my house.
