 I.... uhhhh... hehe... I uh, kinda bought a umm... *ahem!*
a... bmw... not even a diesel one....
similar to this one!
I couldn't help myself! It was in a wrecking yard, waiting to get crushed. 98% mint condition, 150,000 kms! I've liked these things for a long time, and I know I'd kick myself for letting this one get wasted...
Maybe I could poke a vw (volvo) straight six turbo diesel into it!!
Then I'd be able to partially redeem myself!
Does yours also have those BBS wheels?
Are you familar with the E23 Bimmers?
Do you know the areas to pay attention to?
- Rear strut towers
- Front strut towers
- Windshield seal
- Battery Tray
- Trunk floor
- Rear rocker (inside)
I think that's all I can think of these days.
Mikey
mine has the 13" deep dish mesh exim wheels.
Like these:
The only rust I could find on this car was a 4" streak where the trunk floor meets the trunk backwall between the tail lights. Seems pretty solid everywhere else! The more I look at it, the more I love it!
I'm still learning now, but isn't this an E21?
Looks like a 320i E21... I too always wanted one, but was never able to find a rust free one at a reasonable price. I settled for an '84 318i E30 which will soon be boosted with a K24 for starters (start small & learn).
I figured I'd branch out a bit since my sister, parents & cousins all drive VW's...
I can do better than the volvo, Doc. I've got two BMW 524TD 2.4L inline 6's if you want a boatload of work. One has a good head and good compression but a bad rod knock. The other is soft on compression, has a cracked head but has a good crank. I figure you can make one out of the two if you can afford the gaskets... I also have the ZF4HP22 4 speed auto trans that bolts up to the diesel. These came out of lincolns so you'll have to find a BMW oil pump and pan, other than that it should be a bolt in.
haha put your custom license plate on that car
No way! now that would be VW Blasphemy on top of VW treason!
