AAZ idles low after highway driving
« on: July 19, 2015, 02:12:35 pm »
Hi All,

I took my AAZ vanagon on its first long road trip (about 1200 miles) last week. I discovered some issues, unsurprisingly. One is that sometimes, only after running hard on the highway and then stopping, the idle is really low. It never stalls but almost souinds like it might. My IP needs a reseal - could it be air getting into the system when it's hot? Anything else I should check? Thanks in advance.

I've had temp effect tired pumps before, yes.  Get the pump rebuilt and re-evaluate.

That's interesting, thanks. This pump came from an engine that had been beat to hell, so I wouldn't be surprised if it needed a rebuild. I have a second pump that also needs to be resealed. I might end up running that one.

I've decided to reseal my spare pump and try using that. But I'm having a hard time finding a seal kit other than the unbranded ebay kits. Any suggestions?
