1.6td tranny swap
« on: May 01, 2015, 03:17:17 pm »
So i have a 1.6 turbo diesel mark 1 jetta and had to do a tranny swap to a 1.9, seem simple enough, until i ran into a few issues, mostly the axle and cv joints, i have that figured out for the most part, but now im stuck trying to find the same turbo that came out of the car, im not sure if it was the stock one of not but it says its a garrett M24 turbo, ive searched every fourm and search engine i can think of and nothing comes up with a match, is there any one out here that has had this issue and or could just help me out. thanks Connor.

Pics of the said turbo tag and a title that has something to do with finding out what turbo I have would be helpful.

The Garrett M24 does exist, but was never installed stock on any VW diesel.  The Garrett 1.6 turbos were all T3.  The K24 is another stock 1.6TD turbo but is not Garrett, it is a KKK (Borg Warner) turbo.

i think some of the t3 compressor housings say m24 or m42 on them, but they are actually a t3.  35 trim t3 with .36a/r turbine housing to be more specific.
