mk1 jetta doors fit a rabbit right ?
« on: August 13, 2010, 11:13:45 pm »
I hope one of you night owls knows about this right quick.

82 4door Jetta - aren't the front doors the same as a 4door Rabbit ?

I'll do some measuring before i pull them off the parts car tomorrow morning, but any vote of confidence would be good too.

Found some SWEET doors with factory tinted glass, functional vent windows, remote mirrors, and ultra deluxe black door panels (cards).

Thanky

pretty sure that the only difference between mk1 jettas and rabbits was the absence of a trunk on the rabbit. if you hold your hand over the trunk in a picture of a mk1 jetta, it looks like a rabbit..

The only difference i was able to find out about on the doors was that the real early Mk1's had a different door hinge mounting arrangement. Not just the one bolt per hinge.
Mine are 1 bolters and so were these.

Scored them mutha's today !
Going to use them on my 81Truck.

My passenger door had been swapped from some previous wreck damage, and had an 83 LX or 83 GL door put on it. So i had mismatched interior door panels, mismatched armrests and mismatched glass. The mirrors were mismatched too, but i got a remote for driver side and put it on a while back.

I'd been trying to find a matching LX/GL door panel for driver side - but this set-up with these Jetta doors is ultra deluxe. And will be a 6 speaker sound system now. 8)

Really gonna like having functional vent windows soon.

Got some other stuffs from it too, carpet seatbelts etc... so pretty much have everything i was wanting to change my interior over to Black. From the all too familiar orange'ish - tan'ish.

I would have got the front leather seats too, but they were fixed type, not fold forward type.

Was blown away that this car had just came in the yard, and had an excellent black 4door interior. Pretty sure i was first person to get hands on it. I got right much off of it yesterday in the hour i had before closing time. Went back today for the KiLL and was loaded for Bear.

It also has an excellent body (silver).
Grabbed the Hood for fellow members Mr & Mrs Wolfsburged to go onto their 84 TDGL when they get to the paint stage.

I AM STOKED to the GILLS !

Going to list car in classifieds as parting out, if anybody needs some nice Mk1 Jetta Diesel stuff.

the early doors can be fit onto the later westies by cutting off the extra hole on the mounting tab.  I ran into this problem and made a leap of faith by cutting off the excess hole.  It all bolted up, but could never get it to shut as smoothly as per my liking.

I'll eventually need some doors for my 81 caddy and this is a great idea. Thanks!
