I have seen posts by Lord V. , TedV and MJF. Anybody else. Sounds like a very cool setup if you can get an early lightweight Scirocco. I like the early mk1's from the late 70's although the later ones are still pretty cool.
I would like to hear about your cars and how you worked out the swaps. What you did for tranny choices / axles etc. Where did you mount your IC? TedV, Did you have to do anything to stiffen up the body for the autocrossing? Anyone running a LSD? 0-60mph times / 1/4mile times etc. How do you think they handle compared to Golf's and Jetta's? Have you run against other modded gas Scirocco's?

02A Passat tranny. Rear mount from Passat, front custom. Passat clutch cable setup and cable shifter. Custom driveshafts needed. Made a reinforcent bar to prevent cracking crossmember.
Intercooler (~50x29cm) is located in front of mk2 td radiator.
Never tried 0-60, but it was ~6 seconds. Best 1/4 14,5/166kmh. Body ī74 TS, weighed 960kg. Engine 1,7TD, 223hp/350nm @ dyno.

Was the 02A passat tranny a diesel unit? CTN? What did you need to do for your axles? Do you have any pictures of your build up? What are you running for a turbo on the 1.7? What have you done to the engine for mods? Any sort of porting on the head?

First tranny was originally behind aaz, rivets from differential broke. Second is from 2,0 gasser. Donīt remember codes. Axles needed to cut shorter and 100mm inner joints installed. Garrett GT2359V @ 2,0bar boost. Engine specs are somewhere here, it threw a rod.

Is your intake made from a volvo 24d? It almost looks like a dual plenum setup.
Yep, from Volvo. Not dual plenum, just cut 2 cylinders away.

I have seen done before, you did a very nice job on it.
Can you tell me about how you bent your connecting rod? Was it one of your carillo rods or a stock one?

It was Carrillo. Donīt know exactly what happened, but I believe that rod pin end was too narrow and allowed pin to flex.

just a note, if you use scirocco 16v spindles or later cabriolet spindles, and then use 100mm 16v or cabby axles then no axle mods are needed for an 02a

Won't the AAz bolt to the existing 020? Irealize it won't like the 200+ horsepower he's got, but they stand up fine to a more moderate build... I'm going to look at 2 cars this weekend, a '78 and an '81 that have been garaged for a few years. They're supposed to be fairly solid, and I have an AAZ that needs a home....
