I believe the test said 60 kph but i have had them come on as low as 40. maybe even lower. If you want to test the system it has to be driven, not on jack stands.

why does it have to be driven?? it should kickin monentaraly at least I would think, I have wired the system up into my caddy and did the tests from info i found on the web ( no Bentely yet) and all inditcates it should work , but does not, I have tryed a second controller but it may be bad, I do not know , all looks good inside of it . not much info on the subject that i could find anywhere.

It's a very good question which nobody at VW could answer for me either. But i have never been able to test on a lift or with the wheels up. Always had to be road tested to check functions. The only thing you can do with the wheels up is check the voltage values from the speed sensor.

thanks for the offer , if you have the voltage values that would help me , that could be my problem , i have no known good unit to go by . I have 1.2 volts at 65 kph, seems like it is good but I do not know for sure.
Thanks Mark.

The voltage must change as the wheel is turned, i believe from almost 0 to 12v. I will double check in the next hour when i go into my garage.

Okay big correction: 0-11.5 V . I found my guide which tests everything without the processor, so 99% of the time the test works. Let me know i can give you the steps. I just need to know if it's a 10+2 pin or 12 pin processor.

I have two controllers that i am trying out, the org one from the complet set up is a 1991 8 pin plus one ext ground pin all electronic and the second one is a 8 pin with 2 ext. pins it has the manual relay inside the box. the speedo is the 1991 with the plus genreator in it. like i said i can 1.2 volt a/c at 65 kph, your 0-11.5 volts seems high for small generater.

The factory manual says that with your meter at # 5 & 8 pins and on vDC you should have 0-11.5 v. I know from experience you may not see such a wide range, all you want is the fluctuating voltage. For that test you only have to lift one wheel. spin it forwards or backwards.

I gave up on the factory type setup for now and picked up a aftermarket one from the self serve auto wrecker for 17.00 bucks and it works great .Took about 4 hours to hook it up nice and neat , well worth it for the hwy driveing i do.
