found this while in my MAD search for a better more reliable MLS gasket for the 1.6td I just cant get over the HG modding I know lots of guys are doing it with pretty good results...but I'm just having a hard time trusting it LONG TERM...
found this...I'm gonna send them my old fiber gasket...with the AAZ cooling holes drilled into the gasket and have them make me a MLS version!!
the guy quoted me $130...with a 10 day turnaround
I'm gonna try it!!! hope it works out!!

Damn man! Good find.!
I just hope it all works out?!?!?! I'm still gonna have to wait about 2 weeks to see if it works or not...damn car is gonna be stuck in my garage all tore apart for at least 2 more weeks!
I think this may prove to be worth the wait tho.....I hope
if anybody wants one...or some let me know..I'm pretty sure if we buy a few we could get a price break....

They might give you a better deal if you deliver the CAD to them. Here it is in DXF:
Mechanical Headgasket DXF
Andrew
shoot if I can send a file it would shave about 5 days off my wait time....
now if I could figure out how to download that file to where I can see/view it?
my computer says it can not find a program to read the file?
I need the 1.6 CAD...but I need or would like it to have the extra cooling holes in the CAD?? like the AAZ HG possible??

I dont have the stuff to read those files it sounds like...I'm gonna send my fiber 2 notch out today. I used my MLS AAZ gasket as a template and drilled the holes in the fiber gasket I'm sending.
he has tons of good feedback on his site...I talked to him this morning and he told me it was midnight in Thailand...we chated for 30 mins....
seems like a straight up guy..
hope it works out I will keep you guys posted..think I'm gonna get two...
maybe I should get mine here first before we order up to make sure they work/look good?
I'm excited thats for sure!!

If you send him the file also, it will save a bunch of time for him. You could simply e-mail it. DXF is a universal CAD file and he would most certainly be able to read it even if you can't.
Andrew
so can we get the extra cooling holes put in the CAD?? that would be the only thing I would like to see put on the gasket..I think the extra holes will be a nice bonus for this little engine..

I'd be interested in the 1 notch (1.53mm).

I've got a couple of AAZ gaskets kicking around and also have Autocad so can read the file.. I can probably shoot Andrew the dimensions and locations of the extra cooling holes in the next couple of days... can't get to it much sooner unfortunately.
Having said that, the vendor may want to do all their own mastering so that they have full control over the end quality... probably worth finding out from them before we mock up a revised drawing ?

I would say just do it when you get some time...I'm still gonna send my fiber 2 notch to the guy...with the AAZ coolant holes drilled...that way either way the ball is rolling...I really wanna get my car running that's why I'm kinda in a hurry..
thanks for the help Vince

Thats great!
At this point it doesn't matter as I've welded up the offending holes but think of the possibilities for future reference.
A side from plugging the oil return hole in the head.

Correct, doesn't pertain to you.
Just those of us that are using Hydro heads on solid lifter blocks.
